A little piece of heaven

Lago de Atitlán

overcast 25 °C

Lago de Atitlán is absolutely gorgeous.
This is now the third time I come, and probably not the last. Especially after spending so long in Comitancillo, coming here is definitely a relief and a great change from the boredom that we experience over there. Even if I'm not extremely active while in Atitlán, just being able to drink cappuccinos, look at the wonderful lake and volcanoes, buy coconut and cinnamon bread, walk through banana trees, have a cute hotel room to myself and a tv and wireless internet...................... is just wonderful.

This morning I took the boat and went to visit another village, San Marcos la Laguna, 10 minutes away from San Pedro, where I am staying. I got out of the boat, started walking and I found it so amazingly beautiful I wanted to cry. Tropical plants, trees and flowers everywhere, restaurants with beautiful gardens, birds singing, I felt like I was in the middle of the jungle. Well, apart from the lake. And the restaurants. Whatever, it was magical and I so wish I could've stayed there for like a month. I saw signs to rent houses for like 200$/ month! This is definitely a place I would want to experience for a longer period of time...

But tomorrow, back to reality! Back to Comitancillo. I can't wait to see all the dust and the drunk men. And the garbage on the street. Ahh, I'm so cynical! Comi has good sides, too. They're just a little trickier to find.

See you later Atitlán...
